Some KEYS to Studying the Bible

It's NOT the Method!

It’s the Carnal Mind!

I just did a Google Search for “learn to study the bible for yourself” and found numerous methods and tips, but none I found dealt with the condition of the person studying the bible!

If our minds are ruled by our (carnal) desires, we will die (spiritually). But if our minds are ruled by the Spirit, we will have life and peace. (7) Our desires fight against God, because they do not and cannot obey God’s laws. (8) If we follow our desires, we cannot please God, Romans 8:6-8 Contemporary English Version

There are only two Kingdoms

First things First, get the tools that you need if you do not already have bible software and download and install it on your computer. Or, if you prefer, use your existing bible and get a Strong’s Concordance. If you don’t have one, you can usually find them very cheap at a thrift Store.

Set aside some Quiet Time daily so that, as much as possible, you can spend Quality uninterrupted time in Scripture study. Find you a space, if you don’t have one already and designate it as Sacred; your personal Altar as you are literally offering yourself to Lord as a vessel to Learn His Word.

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints…Ephesians 1:15-17

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
(Hebrews 4:12 KJV)
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
(2 Timothy 3:7 KJV)

But Costly Bible Study!

No Short Cuts to Maturity

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:  Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it,  Matthew 13:44-46 KJV .

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth, (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV).

Do I have to learn Greek & Hebrew?

Nope.  You don’t ever have to know another Tongue to learn what you need to know to learn.  This is all about you and your commitment.  Most bibles didn’t do a very good job translating from Hebrew and Greek to English, so looking up a word here and there can only help clarify the Scriptures for you.

Date and Save Your Notes

Consider starting a New Journal or designating fresh space in your old Journal or Notebook if you have one.  You’ll be amazed at your Growth as you look back over your Notes in the future.

Let There Be Light !

(36)  Bow my heart to Your Testimonies, and not to unjust gain.
(37)  Turn my eyes from seeing vanity; in Your way give me life.
(38)  Make Your Word sure to Your servant, who is devoted to Your fear.
(39)  Turn away my shame which I fear; for Your judgments are good.
(40)  Behold, I have longed for Your Precepts; grant to me life in Your righteousness.
